Jean-Luc Six completed his PhD degree in polymer chemistry in 1996 at the University of Bordeaux under the supervision of Dr Yves Gnanou (LCPO). Then, he joined CERM (University of Liege, Belgium) to work on one-component moisture-curable materials as a Post-Doctoral fellow in the group of Pr Robert Jérôme. Subsequently, in 1997, he joined the LCPM (University of Lorraine) as Associate Professor to teach at ENSIC (1997-2001), then at EEIGM (since 2001). He was appointed Professor in 2012 and Full Professor in 2017.

His current research interests include the controlled synthesis of biodegradable/biocompatible amphiphilic glycopolymers (combining hydrophilic natural polysaccharide and hydrophobic polymeric moieties) and the formulation of glycopolymers-based submicronic biomaterials (nanoparticles, nanocapsules, polymersomes), which can be used as nanocarriers for drug delivery, or of microcarriers for cell culture.
